Modernization of IT Infrastructure – Industrija Mesa Nedeljković

Executive Summary

In response to the growing operational demands and future-facing goals of Industrija Mesa Nedeljković, Trony Network implemented a transformative upgrade of the company’s entire IT and network infrastructure. This forward-thinking project focused on reliability, hygiene compliance, and high performance in a mission-critical production environment.

The solution combined structured cabling, modern network equipment, enterprise-grade virtualization using XCP-NG and Intel server hardware, and robust hybrid backup systems. System monitoring and core IT services were centralized and optimized to ensure security, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

This project lays the technological foundation for digital resilience, operational agility, and long-term savings. More than an upgrade, this is a strategic leap toward digital excellence in the food industry.

Project

Trony Network successfully delivered a complete IT and network infrastructure modernization project for Industrija Mesa Nedeljković, a leader in the meat processing sector. The project addressed core infrastructure challenges and positioned the client for secure, scalable, and high-performing operations.

Network Infrastructure

• Passive infrastructure upgrade: Complete re-cabling and rack cabinet reorganization using structured cabling standards to improve stability, traceability, and operational efficiency.
• Active equipment replacement: Implementation of fully manageable network switches to support VLANs, traffic prioritization (QoS), and future network expansion.

Workstation Optimization

• Full replacement plan for aging PCs and ruggedization of workstations in the production area to meet hygiene standards and improve operational reliability and aesthetics.

Server Virtualization Platform

• Deployment of a new server pool based on Intel Mitac Barebone servers and the open-source XCP-NG hypervisor, chosen for performance, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
• Migration of core systems and workloads, backed by Xen Orchestra for centralized management and automation.

Backup Systems

• Deployment of a hybrid backup strategy using QNAP TS-435XeU for on-premise redundancy and Acronis Cloud Backup for off-site protection, ensuring business continuity and disaster resilience.

Monitoring and Systems Management

• Full setup of enterprise IT services: Active Directory, WSUS, WDS, and Microsoft SQL Server with DBA optimization.
• Proactive infrastructure monitoring using Nagios, enabling rapid incident response and real-time performance insights.
